The Sydney Metropolitan Development Authority (SMDA) working with the City of Sydney,South's Rabbitohs, Redwatch and the South Sydney Business Chamber has developed strategies to revitalise Redfern and Waterloo, to encourage increased economic development, cultural renewal and to build on the social capital of the area.
This group, known as the Roll Up Redfern Committee, recognised that toachieve the above objectives, a long term brand identity would need to be developed to help turn around the old perceptions of the area and to underpin a marketing strategy to benefit residents and businesses.
Along with Australian Technology Park, Redfern offers a range of cultural, sporting and business activities including the National Centre for Indigenous Excellence, Redfern Park and Oval, Eveleigh Market, CarriageWorks, and Family and Culture Day at The Block, plus a great mix of shops, art galleries, retro furniture stores, cafes and restaurants.
The Redfern brand is a significant and exciting business and community activity. Redfern brand merchandise, including t-shirts, caps and bumper stickers, is available to purchase from the South Sydney Football Club Merchandise Store (Level 4, 265 Chalmers St, Redfern) or South Sydney Business Chamber (88 Pitt St, Redfern).
